Hornet Formula-1 Tunnel Hull with 540 Outboard Motor R/C Racing Boat (750mm)

I have brought boats from Hobbyking before with no troubles what so ever, great service. I got a F1 hornet and like some others the motor went pop after just 4 minutes run time. It over heated and I have stripped down the outboard and I will now upgrade to better brush-less and ESC. Its a pity as I want another boat from Hobbyking and I am now having second thoughts. When the boat did go it looked great and on a small pond like we have in Jersey CI it looked fast and hopped on the plane pretty quick. Love Hobbyking products normally, but only 7/10 this time, sorry.

Mr Hobby King please stop selling these until the manufacturer replaces the motor & ESC with reliable ones. I immediately installed a bigger ESC and smaller prop because of what I read in reviews but the motor still died in 2 minutes. It looks great and might be initially cheap but not after you replace everything that quickly dies .

My ESC fried after two batteries changes, like many others here. I sent the ESC to HK and they accept in exchange warranty. However, more than four months past and only get evasive answers. The default answer is "we are waiting our suplier"...

Hull comes with cracks in the Body, the Motor squeeking and burned up on the first run after 4 minutes. Water inlet on the Outboarder is a joke. To get this Boat becomes a fine run you have to change the complete Hardware like motor, ESC and the Servo. By the way, the Hardware is a piece of Crap. Boat Scale is fine but cheap decals. Wouldn´t never buy it again.

Very fast boat!!! i dont receive it, because it was back order, but i hope it make me happy!

I spend almost $200 to make this boat to be perfect. I replace the motor, ESC, servo, etc. Outboard unit...., I have been hunting for the outboard unit to replace it. The only thing that I use is the Hull...., only hull....

Today after the second time using. First using the Motor burned. Second use the flex is broken. The other 12 MINUTES were realy good. Thats all! Because there are only silly answers from Staff and no spareparts or replacements. Now I have for 129$ plus 62$ delivery a lot of trash at home including the second payed motor which I cannot use! Over all never again! If there is anybody who know where I can get a flex axle for that hornet in Germany, please let me know.

Today I get that very good builded boat. I take my things and I drive to my lake. ´2S inside the boat. I controled the water cooling system. All OK! It run very good about two and a half minute. Than the boat stopped an the water. Nothing goes! Than I can give a little bit power, so thet the prop even turnes around and it take a half hour to bring that boat back. I contoled the LIPO - OK! I controled the ESC - OK! But the motor was damaged in one phase I think. Results: HK Please take better Motors for THAT BOAT! THEY NEVER WORK GOOD! Now I can send the Motor back for about 32 $. And no use for about 2 month! Every order I do here - alway one thing is damaged or doesn`t work. That is very bad!!!!

quelqu'un peu t'il m'indiquer la meilleur formule pour modifier le formule 1 de hull tunnel, pour obtenir un peu plus de vitesse et de sécurité(incendie) flotabilité en cas de chavirage, "sans en faire un monstre !!!
Quel moteur, qu'el ESC, quel lipo, quel hélice, faut t'il le charger a l'avant,

I received mine yesterday. There is a crack at hull. The outside cartoon box was not damaged. I need to fix or replace. Does HK do that?

Hi! I'm The3PK. Just received hornet today it more valuable comparing to the price. Outboard is brushless size 380L, it's not 540 size but fast enough when used 3 cell lipo. The weakest point is water proof of esc isnot 100 sealed. I change prop to octura 3 blade 3/437 (Diameter 37 mm. Pitch 1.4) speed improved fascinating. The next run I try to setting outboard angle and lift it up a little bit for more stable while running in the water.

Pls change a prop to smaller to prevent system hot

Ran my boat for the first time today and the ESC fried, it was impressive and looked quite scale-like as it poured smoke out the rear and around the motor (just like the full size when they blow a motor). Im not surprised this happened as others have reported the same results (RCGroups). I was running a Zippy lightmax 4000 2C battery. When boat arrival , I'm disappoint to its Motor. It dosen't 540 As ad mened. a dimeter is smaller than 36 mm. It dosen't to this boat, prop also.
When test drive I'm got ESC burned , Please be carful, Hobby kig please revise Motor spec would better.

Great boat , hull thin,light ,strong.The outboard made from plastic with flex drive and 4mm shaft and 2 bearing .The esc heat too fast cause it draw to much amp. The prop is might be too big. If not reduced the prop size or just go with a turnigy 120a esc , it could run on 11.1-14.8v ,with out worry.It handle very good but the servo is kind of weak and noisy.Servo need more torque if you wanted to mod it.I had put Ammo brushless motor on stock outboard with 120a turnigy esc,lipo 14.8v and octura x640. It's flying and needs more weight in the front and adjusted the AOA

Boat arrived today looks good,motor isnt a 540 its smaller than my 540 motors same length but
diameter is smaller radio box has no seal
and servo lead just crushed under lid so a hole is needed to fit servo wire through and silicone lid on,also can,t get speedy to arm with HK 2.4 radio motor spins up unless you hold brake on.Works with my spektrum radio fine. apart from these easy fixes great boat unbeatable price thx hobby king :)

my boat arrived today....the battery tray had come loose..easy to fix..
it has a 540 brushless motor with a flexi drive to the prop
put a 5000 mah 7.4 volt lipo in for a test run it went like the clappers am very pleased with it...will try an 11.1 volt lipo next

Would be nice to see more pictures of the outboard
