Running it on 6S in series and with a Feigao 12XL 540 and 440 Octura. Doing over 50 mph. Having motor temp problems which should not be the case with this engine on 6S and prop size. Does anyone know how to program this ESC or is there an owner's manual?? ( PS. This is not a joke even if from Hong Kong) LOL
Have been waiting 2 months for Turnigy 120 Amp ESC to arrive...must be nice never to have the burden of inventory HK! LOL

Got it on my door about a month ago, but haven't had the time to run it before today. Ocean and nor fresh water, so it might give the boat some extra knots (have cleaned all the parts in freshwater after running).
I must say that this is an awesome boat for the money! Most carefully wrapped boat I have ever recieved. Very well built!
Top speed with 2x3s 40C 4000 packs is TOO fast in choppy sea. Will try calm freshwater and do follow up soon!

i had to through the motor and esc away it was rubbish i used 4 cell and it was to much great hull and hardwere great 4 modifiying iv got a 200amp esc and a 1000watt motor and it great

Any know if the shaft strut is adjustable on this single engine version? I have the EKOS and the arneson style drives are adjustable. Thinking of buying this boat too..looks very well made and nice finish.

Ran this boat for the first time today. I changed the shaft & log to a 3/16 version. Used a 440/3 blade prop & a 642 2 blade. On 4S500 pack (2 x 2S), got a speed of 27 MPH with the 440/3 and 33 MPH on the 642. Amps on the 642 are around 71A. Motor and ESC were cool after running. I think there is more to be had, will fit an NEU 1521/1.5D motor and see how it goes.

Very cool boat! Exact same sponsons, transom & overhangs as the EKOS. The rudder system is solid and smooth, it has the big drive cable and the captive shaft (no lost shafts like the EKOS!) The hull/hatch is nicely finished and smooth where it sits in the hull. Motor mount fits 380/540 motors.
** the water outlet is on the port side and right where the battery pack goes, so moved the water outlet up about 4 inches and sealed the hole in the hull.

Great hull, motor, hardware and great price.
I've only tested it on 3S and 4S so far. It's very stable in choppy waters and the speed is ok. Didn't push it hard, but the cooling appears to be good.
Not very impressed by the ESC (uneven and nonlinear), but it's good for now.
With a new ESC, this would be a fantastic boat. Could have given it four stars because of the ESC, but the price, hull and motor saves the fith.

I have this same boat, bought from ebay with same specs. you can use two 3s batteries in paralell and the reason is that battery fits on the sides of it, so you need a set in order to be balanced. you can also use 2x 2s in series =14v and it will go very fast!! this boat is fast see mines!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdsge2a3JNs
this is with 4s setup. be extra cautious with cooling, if it is not cooled you are busted in midle of lake

I received my Apparition today. Did i have the gods look down on me when i bought this thing??? The cat i got looks like the one in the pic but mine has TWIN ESC, TWIN MOTOR & TWIN PROP, woohoo. I previously had a EKOS and this thing is identical but a touch better in my opinion. Tested today on 2x5000 7.4 40c lipos, went nice, esc's & motor"s never went over 100degF. Then tested on 2x4500 11.1 30c, same temp but almost twice as fast. Paid $209.

Yeah stick to 4S.
The motor is a FSD 540L it looks like.
I've burnt 2 of these out using 5S and 6S for some speed runs :)
The specs of the motor state that it draws a constant current of 41amps so running 4S should be fine, 5S should be ok but I'd check the amp draw before you used 5S for any length, but the motors are rated to 18v only not 18.5v so your on the limit there with 5S.

recieved this boat today. it was obviously the photo item, but was un damaged as it came incredibly well boxed in foam and air packs
motor is big, hardware is excellent
it has a break-away nylon bolt in the rudder!

this boat takes two 2s packs in series (4s), one on either side. 3s is not enough. no esc specs, so i dare not try more new esc ordered
have not driven yet, will report back soon after the maiden.
