GoPro Micro Video/Control Board
*Based on some feedback, we have determined that the micro control board is not fully functional when used with the Hero3 cameras. The functionality seems to vary based on the version of the Hero3, and possibly the firmware. Based on the information we have, here is a listing of functionality based on model:,
This adapter has been designed to connect to both
GoPro HD Hero, HERO2, and HERO3*
cameras. The incredibly small board is so small it will fit inside the LCD backpack case when the LCD is not installed. Some customers have used this board with the housing for a water resistant system where they can preview live video while also recording high resolution 1080p video to the camera. The board provides access to various functions of the camera including standard definition video out, power to the camera, remote control of the power button and more.
Supplying 5 volts to pin 3 will power the camera and charge the internal battery*. Optionally, the battery can be removed to save weight and the camera will still function. Briefly grounding the MODE pin has the same function as physically pushing the power button. If the camera is set to one button record, you can remotely trigger the camera to start recording via this board by shorting the mode pin to ground. The board also provides power out if you want to power a small LED or some other low power external device.
